# Calling the Case Management API

> Use your partner key to work with a connected company's cases.

Use the Partner API to manage companies and users, and the Case Management API
to submit and manage their cases. Both use your partner's Bearer key.

For each Case Management API request, select the company with its paywise UUID:

```http theme={null}
GET /v2/orders/?limit=10 HTTP/1.1
Host: api.paywise.de
Authorization: Bearer <partner-api-key>
X-On-Behalf-Of-Company: 10000000-0000-4000-8000-000000000001
```

Send `X-On-Behalf-Of-Company` on every Case Management API request. The one exception is
the tenant-independent legal-form catalog, `GET /v2/legal-forms/`: there the
header is optional, and a header you do send is validated as on every other
Case request. Partner API requests under `/partner/v2/` use the key directly,
without this header.

The header value is the company UUID in its canonical hyphenated form
(`8-4-4-4-12` hexadecimal digits, either case). Any other spelling — braces,
a `urn:uuid:` prefix, or 32 hexadecimal digits without hyphens — is
`400 invalid_company_context`; a missing header is
`400 missing_company_context`. A credential of the other environment (a
sandbox key on `api.paywise.de`, or a production key on
`api-sandbox.paywise.de`) is `401 environment_mismatch`.

The company must have `case_access: available`. Submitting a case also requires
[complete company data](/api-docs/partner-api/concepts/readiness-and-access)
and a valid case.

The selected company determines which resources you can access. Requests for
another company's resources, for a company you can no longer access, or for a
company that has been offboarded from paywise return the same neutral
`404`.

Follow [Submit cases for a company](/api-docs/partner-api/workflows/submit-cases-for-a-company)
for a complete example, or [GET `/v2/orders/`](/api-docs/case-management-api/reference/orders/list-orders)
for the request above.
